The Special Political and Decolonization Committee
The Special Political and Decolonisation Committee, Fourth Committee of the UNGA, developed over the years from its initial role to now handle all political, territorial, and power related matters comprehensively. It works in a concentrated manner to bring into discussion the more complex and historical aspects of modern issues, while actively focusing on all UN special operations and acting as a crucial assistant to the General Assembly.
A subject of concern in both aspects of political and decolonisation concerns, the African region has had a lack of peace and development in pace with the developing world since the creation of this committee. Violent outfits in the region have exploited the political instability and aftershocks of colonisation that are still felt in the Sub-Saharan region today.
This cradle of vast resources has been subject to mass organised terrorism with the utilisation of violence, drugs, trafficking, abuse of power, and failure of intergovernmental cooperation. Though there has been progress in recent times, the committee aims to further efforts undertaken in the area to help development and security.
